GOLF

The golf on the Costa de la Luz is fantastic. The courses offer a lot of variety and are all within a comfortable distance of the accommodation. The pressure on the courses is lower than in the Algarve and Costa del Sol, which makes for easier time booking, a more pleasant pace of play and a nicer golfing experience all over.

Green fairways and greens in top condition all year round. The period from December to February it is usually extra lush and nice thanks to a little more rainfall and lower pressure on the courses.

Plan and play your golf across eight lovely courses: Isla Canela Links & Old Course, Islantilla, Bellavista, Monacilla, Nuevo Portíl, El Rompido North & South. There are courses to love here for all handicaps and preferences!

TOGETHERNESS

Regardless of whether there are two, four or more of you planning and traveling together, there are all possibilities for a wonderful stay together with both old and new friends. Many are the long-stay guests who continue to meet and socialize in their home countries after getting to know each other down here.

We organize friendly tournaments every week with great atmosphere and prize giving afterwards on the 19th hole. We also arrange joint dinners from time to time for anyone who wants. And, once in a while an excursion to interesting places such as an olive-/vineyards, genuine markets, event or festivals, river cruises, cultural tours to Sevilla, etc.

All activities are voluntary and you join if and when you want. The main thing is that everyone always feels welcome and included.

FOOD & BEVERAGE

Eating and drinking well in the company of good friends is a national sport in Spain, and not least here in Andalusia. Breakfast, lunch, dinner or an impromptu 'tapas hangout' - everything is done with the soul and the heart.

There is an incredible amount of locally produced food here, not least fruit and vegetables. Oranges and other citrus fruits are available fresh all year round, strawberries from February and other lovely seasonal fruits come and go, e.g. paraguayo, mango, passion fruit, fig, sharon fruit and many others.

Olive oil and wine are of course two other specialities of this region. Explore and test different types and varieties and be enchanted. In Ayamonte, we arrange themed evenings with tastings of both wine and olive oil.

THE CLIMATE

Down here on the Coast of Light, it's warm and pleasant all year round. It's green and lush around us all the time and the fruit trees are harvested continuously, even during the winter.

Sure, most evenings from December to February you need a sweater or jacket in the evening when sitting outdoors, but it's more like a late Scandinavian summer evening. Anyway, here we are 'light years' away from winter clothes and snow shovels.

Throughout the Winter we play golf in skirts/shorts on wonderfully green golf courses in top condition. Typically, there is, it should be, some precipitation here from December to February, which the nature really needs. However, it is seldom that there are longer periods of rain, but it is usually concentrated to 1-3 days now and then.

THE BEACHES

Vamos a la playa! Costa de la Luz means Coast of Light, and when you're here you really understand why. The beaches face south/southwest, which means that here you enjoy an incomparably beautiful sunset in the sea most every day. There are many 'chiringuitos', small restaurants, by the beach where you can have dinner while enjoying this spectacular scenery.

During the day, these beaches invite you to endless walks in the sand, which provides good exercise for the back, legs and joints, as well as wonderful balm for the soul. Enjoy!

NATURE & CULTURE

Southern Spain is a formidable paradise for anyone who wants to broaden their horizons and gather new impressions beyond the golf courses. Along this magnificent stretch of coast thousands of migratory birds pass and shelter during the winters. The coast as well as inland offer hundreds of miles of roads and paths for walking and exploring - leading you to wineries, small communities, local fish markets and anything else you can think of.

A few miles up the border river Guadiana, by the small medieval town of Sanlucar, you will find our very special gem Finca del Contrabando - ten beautifully furnished small apartments next to a main building with pleasant common areas. Gather around the large grill for a great BBQ, relax by the pool, stroll along the river or take the boat a stone's throw across the river to the Portuguese twin town of Alcoutim.
